The Hermit and the Dark Night
The disintegration and recreation of self
When you hear people speak about the Hermit in the Tarot, you always hear references to taking this journey within, and that star in the lantern is used to light his way. But I have gained a deeper understanding of the Hermit. I mean, look at him in his traditional expression. He's a Merlinite figure, cloaked, with a staff and the infamous star as his lantern. He is a Magician. He is Mercury ruled; he moves between worlds. He is the number 9, and he denotes the end of things. So, I have a different perspective on where he may go and what happens in that space.
I am not here to disagree with the idea of inward exploration; that is most definitely a thing, especially for the human aspect of our existence. It happens; I did it, I know. I know it very well. But I think the Hermit must go somewhere else to take that long journey within himself. And I don't believe that place is here. He is a Magician, right? We al
l know Magicians work in secrecy, in private. I think that place is another dimension, a portal, where time moves at a different speed than here. That is what it is like when you take the Hermit's journey. That is what it's like when you enter that portal. It can feel so isolated like everyone else in this physical world is moving quickly; kids are getting older, time is passing, and you are still on the same day. Still... You enter because you know it's time for death. You step in because you know who you are can no longer be. I think you step in because you know you have the star. I think you step in when all you have is faith that afterward your destiny will be forever changed.
The Hermit's journey is the disintegration of the self. This is where the magic of recreating your life takes place.It's dark in here, and all you have is that star waiting for you to be ready to unleash it. This is
what it takes to recreate yourself.
I know so many of us have things that we want to leave behind. I know so many of us want to become; more, better, different. The question is, "Are you ready to enter the portal? Are you ready to disintegrate? Are you ready to recreate? Do you desire to be better?"
I have entered the portal, and it was a long arduous visit. But like all travels, we pick up things along the way. Things meant to be shared. Wisdom, that can only be gained by experience. I have been a spiritual guide for many years. I have been helping people heal by hand and mouth, for many years.
I understand death and desintegration intimately. I traveled the long night. After the sudden loss of my husband, I knew I needed to be my own guide, I knew I needed to take the time to give myself what I spent nearly a decade providing for others. I know 1st hand what it feels like to die on so many levels. I understand loss on so many levels. I have always specialized in relationships; relationships between friends, family, intimate relationships, and the most important relationship, the relationship with yourself. I knew I needed to heal all those areas before I could extend myself out to you again. So, here I am; back, and ready to guide you on your journeys, if you're ready.
